In a significant stride towards bolstering economic ties between Japan and India, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s recent meeting with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Chairman, Tadashi Maeda, highlighted the burgeoning interest in India’s investment climate, particularly in the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) for Japanese investors.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stewardship, India has made remarkable progress in creating an ‘ease of doing business’ environment, making it an attractive destination for foreign investments. This pro-business climate has gained commendation from global financial institutions and trade organizations.
During this meeting, Chief Minister Patel elucidated on the longstanding cooperation between JBIC and Gujarat, outlining various collaborative projects in Dholera SIR. The Chairman of JBIC reciprocated this goodwill, acknowledging the fruitful partnership and underscoring the organization’s keen interest in projects across India, notably the ongoing ventures like Nippon Steel within Dholera SIR.
The Chairman highlighted JBIC’s focus on sectors like Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen, aligning with India’s commitment to sustainable development. Dholera SIR emerged as a strategic area of interest for Japanese investors, signifying the region’s immense potential and attractiveness for foreign investments.
Expressing gratitude for JBIC’s involvement in multiple projects in India and Gujarat, Chief Minister Patel extended an invitation for JBIC’s participation in the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. This summit serves as a pivotal platform for fostering collaborations, showcasing investment opportunities, and driving economic growth in the state, including Dholera SIR.
The meeting, attended by India’s Ambassador to Japan, Shri Sibi George, and Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, signifies the significance and high-level representation of this interaction in propelling Dholera SIR’s position as a premier investment destination in India.
The engagement between JBIC and the Gujarat government underlines a growing international interest in India’s economic prospects and the pivotal role Dholera SIR plays in attracting foreign investments.
